The Alameda County Water District, located in Fremont, CA, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Treatment Facilities Operator Trainee position. This position under supervision from the Treatment and Distribution Supervisor, operates and maintains all treated water storage reservoirs, regulator stations, booster stations, and remote chemical injection stations; safely operates all equipment related to assignments; and performs other related work as required.

Treatment Facilities Operator Trainee is the entry level classification in the Treatment Facilities Operator series. Under close to general supervision within a framework of established policies and procedures, incumbents receive on-the-job training and experience in the operation of District treatment facilities. Assignments are given in specific terms and are subject to frequent review while in progress and upon completion, except where tasks are well defined by established standards, policies, and procedures.

Position Qualifications

High school diploma or its equivalent plus specialized training (recent acceptable formal classes of instruction) in water treatment and plant operations and no work experience required.
Ideal Candidate will possess:
• Direct experience operating/maintaining water treatment and/or water distribution system facilities
• Experience performing facility operation and maintenance tasks related to process control and process optimization
• Experience working in an industrial setting, which could include treatment plant, oil, gas or refinery, mining, automotive and manufacturing
• Possession of a Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate Grade T2 is highly desirable
