The Manager of Distribution Maintenance and Construction is a Division Manager within the Maintenance and Construction Department. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing the construction, maintenance and repair of water distribution pipelines and appurtenances (water meters, air relief and isolation valves and fire hydrants) and services. The water distribution system consists of approximately 4,200 miles of pipelines, 98,000 appurtenances, 30,000 hydrants, and 380,000 services. The Distribution Maintenance and Construction Division includes over 230 staff and an operating budget exceeding $39 million. This is an exempt (at will) position, serving at the pleasure of the Board of Directors.

The annual salary ranges from $150,084 to $216,780. Initial placement within the range is based upon qualifications. Appointment is typically made at or below the control point $195,108.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience which has provided the desirable competency which typically requires a Bachelor's degree and several years of progressively responsible experience including supervising the design, construction, maintenance or operation of water distribution pipelines, facilities, or similar underground pipeline systems.
Competency: Technical competency in the design, installation, construction or maintenance of underground pipelines. Managerial competency in planning, organizing, directing and controlling a large construction maintenance group; effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
License, Certificate or Credential: Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
