West County Wastewater is seeking to find an exceptional GIS Analyst to become part of a dynamic team. The selected GIS Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining WCW’s GIS geodatabase using ArcGIS, developing GIS master plan and the roadmap to achieve master plan goals, developing and maintaining integrations to all software applications for asset management and capital projects that utilize or connect to WCW’s GIS database, creating and supporting GIS data collection applications, analyzing problems and making appropriate recommendations as it pertains to GIS, publishing GIS resources and many other related GIS tasks. The GIS Analyst will support WCW with all GIS needs as well as any public requests received for GIS data or resources.

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this position will work remotely, with occasional need to visit WCW’s offices and facilities.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced GIS analyst preferably with wastewater utilities experience. Experienced in building and managing an ArcGIS geodatabase system and keeping it current, complete and accurate. Experienced in master planning and integrating the ArcGIS geodatabase system with other asset management programs/systems such as CCTV progress, sewer cleaning & asset maintenance, capital projects. A strong team player and communicator who can provide excellent GIS mapping and analytical support services to internal and external customers.

Position Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates that a person has obtained the required knowledge and is able to perform the required work (with reasonable accommodation, if needed) will be considered. A person with the following combined training and experience would typically qualify to compete in a selection process:

Experience: Seven years of full-time paid technical and/or professional experience operating, maintaining, and implementing automated mapping and/or Geographic Information Systems.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Cartography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other fields closely related to the study of Geographic Information Systems and four (4) years of additional qualifying experience as noted above.

License OR Certificate: Possession of a valid California driver's license OR possession of the ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed.

Technical certification in GIS, such as GISP (Certified GIS Professional), is desirable but not required.
