Positions & Duties

The Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF) is recruiting an engineering technician with knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), data collection & knowledge of a large industrial facility. The Engineering Technician’s position is part of the asset management team and report to the Senior Engineering Technician and collect asset information to be populated into the Computerized Maintenance Management System. The incumbent will coordinate with asset management team to help with the day to day running of a CMMS software program, which will track data for the facility’s preventive maintenance program, equipment management system, work order system, and equipment history and inventory control system.

Typical duties for both positions include but are not limited to:

Collection of facility wide asset data
Researching and reviewing facility’s record drawings and conducting field investigations for the purpose.
Interpreting and application of Process & Instrumentation drawings for facility’s Process and Control Systems, to the CMMS database.
Perform condition assessment of critical assess and determine remaining life.
Coordinate transition & update of parts/materials inventory to CMMS.
Organizes, acquire, and maintains office and file record information.
Develops work practices update asset data for the existing and new facility equipment.
Interfaces with the CMMS software program manager / senior engineer technician to populate the database with Asset data.
Maintains and updates asset database.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Successful completion of high school or equivalent (GED or California Proficiency Certificate).


Engineering Technician I – No experience requirement

Engineering Technician II – Two (2) years of increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering work at a level equivalent to an Engineering Technician I with the City of San Jose.

Acceptable Substitution: Completion of an AA/ASA degree in Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university OR two (2) years (60 units) of college engineering courses may be substituted for the required experience at the Engineering Technician II level.

Required Licensing: Possession of a valid driver’s license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in California.
