Position Description

Soquel Creek Water District is seeking a Customer Service Field Worker I/II (depending on experience) working in our Conservation/Customer Service Field department performing meter reading and field-based customer service duties This is a regular, full-time position.
• Performs installation, maintenance, exchange and repair of meters and meter boxes. Reads meters utilizing a variety of methods in assigned area, according to schedule.
• Collects, analyzes and reports on customer use data to verify accuracy and identify findings which appear abnormally high or low. Takes action on collected data and maintains accurate records.
• Evaluates customer complaints or issues, including water quality, pressure, leaks, abnormal meter readings, inoperative or defective meters; takes corrective action including re-reading meters, locating leaks, taking chlorine readings, performing meter repair, maintenance or replacement, retrofitting couplings on customer side of meter, and related tasks.
• Provides information to customers regarding billing policies and procedures, water quality and pressure, District complaint resolution procedures, and related issues, or refers customers to appropriate individual.
• Operates District vehicles and equipment.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to graduation from high school; customer-focused and/or field-based public service; basic knowledge of piping system hydraulics, plumbing and basic mechanical skills, or similar related job experience.
California Driver’s License; satisfactory driving record; available for on-call and emergency work; California Department of Public Health Grade D-2 Distribution Operator’s certificate.
