Position Description

The Santa Clara Valley Water District is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer professional to lead the District’s Watersheds Division, working closely with the CEO in developing district-wide strategies and implementation plans, acting as the CEO in her absence. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in implementing United States Army Corps of Engineers flood risk reduction projects, managing watersheds with an emphasis on natural flood protection, strong knowledge of urban flood control practices, and emergency management operations. The Chief Operating Officer position requires a proven leader on management of large complex flood protection programs, capital projects, and watershed environmental stewardship activities. Experience of the ideal candidate would include eight years increasingly responsible administrative or managerial related experience, with at least three years in a high-level managerial role.

The salary for the Chief Operating Officer-Watersheds is $180,024-$256,526 annually; placement within this range will be dependent upon qualifications.
