$79,040.00-$101,171.20 annually-based on a seven-step salary plan

To perform a wide variety of professional analytical and technical duties involved in the analyses of drinking water, wastewater, and recycled water for organic constituents using EPA approved methods. The position is to interpret test results of water quality analysis; assist in the development of various applied research projects as needed; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
•Perform semi-volatile and volatile chemical analysis of water using approved EPA Methods such as 525.2, 524.2, 515.3, 505, 504.1, 531.1, 547, 552.3
•Support Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs
•Perform sample extractions and sample preparation
•Perform data acquisition and analysis
•Participate and follow Health & Safety requirements
•Comply with Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program
Ideal candidate’s background includes:
•1-2 years of experience working in a commercial or government environmental laboratory performing analysis on water samples using EPA Methods such as 525.2, 524.2, 552.3, 515.3, 505, 504.1, 547 and 531.1.
•Should have a solid foundation in sample preparation/extraction techniques
•Should have a solid background in troubleshooting instrumentation problems and maintaining instrumentation for optimal performance.
•Working knowledge and understanding of water treatment is beneficial to interpretation of water quality data.

Position Qualifications

One year of chemistry or water/wastewater analysis.

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, microbiology, or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.
